Calling all GC2300 owners>>

Had this tractor about a month now. I simply love it, and have 20 hours on it so far. I have the loader and MM mower.

Couple of questions I have:

1. The first few times I ran it hard for an hour or so, when the hydralic fluid got to full temp. I would hear whinning, humming(buzzing) at idle, and would only hear this after the tractor had been working at full throttle for a while. At first it seemed to come from the trans, or hydralic pump area. Then I investigated and found that this humming was coming from the vibration of the hard PS lines that run under the Left side frame, ( to the best of my investigation). The vibration felt like it matched the pitch of the sound I was hearing at idle. It seems that this noise has become a little better the last couple times I have used the tractor for any length of time.

Can any of you 2300 owners relate to this finding? I spoke to several dealers, and even Massey tech about the issue, and none of them could relate, or tell me straight out, YES that is normal, or NO, you need to get it in. Other users have come to the conclusion that I should wait and give the tractor more time to break in, at least until the first service, and see how things settle in. If you guys that own one cant comment on this, could you pay attention to this the next time you run your tractor? Feel those PS lines just inside the Left frame.

2. Should I go rear mount or front snowblower this winter? I dont have any experience using a rear mount blower, but had a front mount blower on my previous 4WD Honda. I am thinking it may get old turning my head around all the time. Even though it's a more money, I am leaning toward the front mount blower. Can anyone give me any insight, or does anyone own the front mount blower??

I would recommend the front snow blower. The hitch is very easy to use and if you decide to purchase the dozer blade or front broom it makes it very simple to interchange. Just a thought. There is also a soft cab available and the chute rotation and deflector can be acutated electrically from within the cab.

I have a two week old GC2310 TLB. The first weekend, I only ran it one hour and the only sound I heard was the diesel. The second weekend I started it up, I heard the whining immediately. I thought it was the transmission fan. I heard the sound everytime I ran it this past weekend. I've put a total of 4 hours on the machine.

I absolutely love the tractor, but that noise is a tad unnerving.

ahhhh, finally, someone else that has heard it! Like I was saying, I have checked into this and most say it doesnt seem to be a problem. Actually, I too thought it was the fan on the driveshaft at first, then I figured it was the pump, then after further investigation, I realized it was the lines, and or the diverter for the PS lines. Mine seems to have lessened to some degree now that I have 20 hours on it. But it seemed to really kick in after the tractor was good and hot, and you had been working it pretty hard.
I had orginally described it as a "buzzzzing" sound.
I love my tractor too, I have found all kinds of jobs for it, and it hasnt let me down yet. I am overly immpressed with how it mows, it seems to mow better than any tractor I have seen. I had a Honda 5013, and it mows better than that tractor did.
As far as the noise, I am not going to worry about it right now..... it seems to be better now, and I found that when you started it cold, depending on what you were doing with the tractor, it may never do it at all. I found that you really needed to work the tractor for at least a half to 1 hour,a nd get the trans fluid really warm to hear it at idle.
Last week I moved approx 20 yards (2 dump truck loads) of wet, heavy clay fill. I moved it and spread it out in 1 1/2 hours /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
I love this thing...........chime in and let me know your experiences, Id love to compare notes! Check your PS hoses under the left side frame, and see if they are vibrating, and tell me if that vibration seems to match the pitch of the humming you notice.

ps. I really wanted to go with the front blower, but my current funds wont allow it, so I will be going with a good rear mount unit. I have to sacrafice somewhere I guess

I've had my GC2300 for a few months now and have about 40 hours on it. I love it. I haven't noticed the mysterious noice that you describe. I do have a question of my own, though. Does your foot pedal return back to the neutral position when you let off of it? Mine approaches the neutral positon when I let off of it, but it does not fully get there from either the reverse side or forward side which causes it to creep. I have to use my foot to push it to the neutral position. This is esecially frustrating when I go to put it in gear and the pedal is not in the middle. This causes the gears to grind /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. Anybody else have the same issue and know how to fix?

hi i have the 2310 now for about 2 weeks & i love the little machine it sure has a lot of heart . i'm thinking of a tooth bar for the bucket any sugestions or pros or cons for this size tractor
