Calling out to all 4120 owners

You will be happy with a 4120 powerrev. Mine powers a 6 ft rotary cutter in thick stuff with plenty of power to spare. The gear trans. is more efficient than the hydro and to get equal performance you have to move up one model size in a hydro (4320). If you get a cab with AC and hydro you need to go up aprox. two sizes (4520) to have the same power left for the cutter as the non-cab, gear 4120. Many folks do not take this stuff into consideration, assuming that there is no power penalty to pay for hydro or AC cab. Also, be sure to load the rear tires as a 4120 with loaded rears can get more power to the ground than a 4720 with unloaded rears. This is especially important for loader work and plowing. I have almost (2) years on mine without even a minor problem. Then again I still use a JD M grandpa purchased new in 1950 that has required nothing but tires and a couple of valve jobs. You can't go wrong with a made in USA deere like the 4000 series.

Yeah,, good point on filling the tires for FEL work,,,, I've had the rear end of my 4120 up in the air more then once while the bucket was loaded with clay. Not a pleasant feeling. I also tried to push a van stuck in a snow drift last winter,,,, I know I had plently of power,, but the rears just spun, as did the front wheels,,,, needed more weight there too !! The other option I'm thinking of buying/building is a ballast box. Either way, weight on the rears is very beneficial!!
