I need some recommendations for a quality campground in North Georgia near Helen, Cleveland or Hiawassee. I have a pop-up camper. I need full hook-ups and level paved or gravel sites. My camper does not have "facilities" so I need clean restrooms with hot showers. Resort style campgrounds are fine but not necessary.
Thanks in advance.

My favorite ones are the one at Turner's Corner (12-15 miles north of Cleveland) and at Moccasin Creek State Park (at Lake Burton).

We live a mile outside of Helen, and will run to Moccasin Creek when we can. It's about 20 - 30 minutes from Helen, and is on the shore of Lake Burton. There's a fish hachery where the kids (and seniors, if I remember correctly) can fish. All the sites are level, or reasonably close.

I haven't stayed at Turner's Corner in several years, but before we moved to the area, we were there every couple of weekends. It's at the corner of Hwy 129 & Hwy 60. Some of the sites are on the creek, and others are in the middle of an open area. Sites are level, but whatever you do, don't speed through the lot, the owners will jump on a golf cart & hunt you down (or used to).

We did the popup thing for a while, but now I get to do the cheap trailer setup - I borrow my parent's camper. With it, I have to borrow their truck /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif cuz we haven't figured a way to set the camper to work with his truck (1/2 ton Dodge 2wd) and my truck (3/4 ton Dodge 4wd).

There are a million campgrounds around, we have a tendency to find one we like and stick with it. Let me know if you have one you're interested in, maybe I can get you a drive by description.

Thanks for the reply.
These are some of the ones I'm considering based on a web search.

Enota (www.enota.com)
Tallulah river mountain rsort (www.2trmr.com)
Yonah Mountain camping resort
Creekwood campground (www.creekwoodresort.info)

Thanks for the help

Rick,
I believe any of those would be pretty good. I've been to Enota, and drive by Yonah Mountain every day on the way to work. Yonah has recently changed owners within the last few months. Creekwood is only 2 miles from my parent's house, but I've never been in there.

Helen is in White County and the county has a pretty good website, www.whitecounty.com. Helen's website is www.helenga.org (not .com)

One more that looks good from the road is www.unicoisprings.com they are about 3 miles out of Helen.

Just got back from 10 days in Hiawasee at Georgia Mountain Fair campground. Nice place, on shore of Lake Chatuge. May not be able to get a spot depending on what activities they have going on; Falll Mountain Festival coming up. There were plenty of spots the week before Labor Day, but absolutely every site was filled on Labor Day weekend. Full hookups where we were (with motor home), but some sites have only water and electric, not sewer.

We were in Area II, in site A26, which is near top of a steep hill - the whole right-hand loop on the map is on a hill. The left hand loop is more level and easier to walk to the facilities. But, the view from our site was great - I'm just glad I didn't have to walk up and down the hill to the facilities.
