LS MT225S
I am looking at a used snowplow for my LS MT 225s. The blade comes in two widths, 5ft and 6ft, and it designed for "25 to 40 hp" tractors. It will be used to plow a long gravel driveway.

The used one I am looking at is the 6ft width. Frankly, I would rather have the 5ft blade, but it is used, and that is what it is. The price is excellent, so I am tempted.

Looking for opinions - would the 25hp LS MT225s handle a 6ft (400lb) blade OK through maybe 6 (occasionally 8) inches of snow?

The 5' blade would be the safe bet, but really there are so many variables when it comes to snow the 6' may work well also.
A somewhat dry snow would be no problem, but a wet slushy 8" snow may be an issue. If the deal is good, I would go with the 6' blade... you could always cut it down to 5' later.

It depends on the snow and the slope. If you're pushing downhill, you might be ok. Dry and fluffy snow, you will likely be ok. Wet snow, you will need more weight and power to push it.

If its a good deal, get it and try it. You won't hurt anything, and if you find you cannot push with it, then you can always sell it.

If you don't already have chains, invest in chains. They will certainly help.

Thanks for all the above.

It is a very good deal, I will likely buy it, if the seller would return my calls

Wow, I didn't think of that! Thanks.

Well, I bought it. $950, barely used, no signs of wear, just paint rubbed off.

I have a Western 6’ 8” that I adapted to fit on my Branson 2400H which is 24 HP and around 2200 - 2500 lbs. like others said wet snow is a challenge but the extra width at full angle clears a path wider than the tractor. Not sure if a 5 foot would do that.
