Flail Mower Can anyone tell me the manufacturer of the PTO shaft of my Alamo SHD74 flail?

My flail's pto doesn't stay on anymore. I figured out that one of the plastic "collar" pieces is missing, the one you slide back against spring pressure to slide the shaft onto the tractor's pto. When I look at the Alamo parts manual, they make you buy all the parts for the collar, for about $120. I'd like to see if this piece is available individually, or at least if the collar parts can be purchased for less.

So, are there any main shaft manufacturers?

Scott, if you measure the ID of the cross bearing cap, the width across the caps and specify if the c-clips are inside or outside the bearing cap, the yoke can be identified.
Tractor dealers, auto parts stores and the internet offer many, many replacement yokes, crosses and drivelines.
It should be a standard driveline, English measurements, but could be metric. Identify the shape of driveshaft to narrow down. Triangle and lemon shaped shaft tubes are metric

OK, I found a website that tells how to identify a PTO shaft, as well as offering parts for just about anything out there:

Says to measure the u-joints and look at the profile of the shaft, to determine who made it (or who was being copied.) I can't measure mine now, so I'll check it out tomorrow and see what I have. I can already tell by the profile that it's a Bondioli & Pavesi shaft, which is a good start. I hope to get a button-type yoke rather than the sliding collar type (they cost less, as well as being easier to use, according to some.)

Scott, glad you found the how to identify and I agree, pin type QD yokes are much easier to operate, especially when the lock gets stuck!

So I got the yoke, got it installed, and have been using it for a while. I did have to buy a 12 ton press at Harbor Freight to press the u-joint out of the old yoke and press it into the new one. I've been tearing up the brush like crazy since then with my Alamo flail.
