When box blading, hay cutting and raking I need my side link to hold the position I put it in. It did not come with a check valve, so can I just add it, or am I going to have to buy a whole new side cylinder?

I did call CCM, but the hyd expert(Mark) is out today. They did say that they he does put the check valves on so I am assuming that he can sell me just the parts I need.

I am curious why you would need the check valves? Does your control valve leak fluid through it or is the fluid leaking past in the cylinder?

Something else to consider is that if you add check valves you will probably need to add flow restrictors too if you wan't to get fine adjustments.

I use topntilt for the majority of my work and haven't seen the need for check valves. A good working control valve shouldn't leak much at all, and operating the cylinder with out the check valves is easier to feather imo.

I would raise the question "Do you need to spend the money to add check valves or spend the money to repair the control valves"?

In working with boxblades for fine grading I have found you need to make adjustments to the boxblade position all the time to get good results. Yet I have raised the boxblade up on occasion and checked for leaks which would indicate whether the rockshaft, tilt cylinder or top link is leaking and found it takes about four hours to see any change in position. I should add my boxblade weighs about 1260 lbs and holds its position very well.

I don't think it is a control valve issue. My FEL holds position( I use a man lift on my forks all the time) and the top/tilt cylinder holds fine. It's just the dang side link that leaks down rather quickly as in about 20 min. This leakdown changes the settings on evey implement I use. You might be right the cylinder may be bad or damaged & I'll have to take a close look at it.

If your toplink doesn't leak down can you swap places on your hydraulic hoses so that the tilt cylinder is connected to the top link valve?

If the cylinder is leaking by internally the check valves won't help obviously.
