I have a Big Tex 10FT gravity tilt car hailer. Its served me well these past few years but now the trailer does not stay flat to the floor when loading a car. I have to get someone to stand on it, or jack up the far end if working alone.

Are these things easy to bleed, if so does anyone know the procedure. They have access at top and bottom of the cylinder, see pic.

Thanks in advance

Usually they have a hose running between the ports. Is that how it’s been the whole time?

Yep, I bought it at about 6 months old

I'd guess this dampener is supposed to be full of hydraulic fluid and work with a hole in the piston to control motion. If that is the case, if there are no signs of an external leak then I would suspect the piston seals are bad.
