Hello,

I went from a nice Kubota B7500 4x4 HST to a Deere 990 Gear 4x4 with Backhoe. I had to go bigger! At the time I was going to be a bigtime loader operator. Stumping and digging holes. I looked at the hour meter on the deere after 1.5yrs of ownership to see 27hrs. 31k spent to figure that out. I just didnt enjoy the time on that machine. I also dont want to spend my life on one.

I decided that the only person I am kidding is me . I do need a machine but I need something practicle that can fill many needs that doesnt cause me to go broke. I am probably the only person here downsizing bigtime but I really feel like this is the right move for me. I hope I really enjoy my not yet received BX-24.

So am I allowed back in club "Kubota"?

I downsized a couple years ago. I went from a Kubota 3130 to a BX23.
I had a part time business doing grading, trenching, digging, clearing and so forth. the business got to the point that I either had to go more than part time with it or drop it all together. I decided to drop it, in retrospect, that was the wrong decision but thats 20/20 hind site.
Anyways, I got the BX23 because it suited my personal needs better than the big 3130 did. No regrets in getting the BX. although I do regret getting out of the business now.

I, for one, will welcome you back from the dark (ummm Green) side! I guess you've discovered that the grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence. (No pun intended) We do need to see some photos of that new machine when you get it though.

I'm puzzled, tarscraper. What turned you off on the JD990 TLB? Gears no fun compared to HST? Didn't do the job you wanted? Too hard to master? Too big for your work? Got all the work done? Machine beat you up when you worked it? Wrong color?

I'm planning to put something similar together with my L4300. I see plenty of work...whether or not the neighbors show up. Only question now is whether I can master the hoe. Hope it doesn't end up on the block like your 990.

Walk onto the light...,welcome back to Kubota land.Funny alot switch from deeres to KUBOTAS.Just like alot of us going from FORDS to TOYOTAS.The japenese really know how to make stuff that we like dont they?

I have a pretty hilly property and a gear machine isnt the best choice for that but I did get pretty comfortable with the gears. I found the 8B deere backhoe to be a very twitchy beast to master. I have a friend here in town that has a small deere 2210 for70% of the work around the house. He bought a much older Case 580 D for the real heavy work. Its a great combination. Between the two it probably set him back 27k or so. No compromises this way. The backhoe on my deere set me back 8.5k and just wasnt worth it. I wasnt happy with the performance. I will look for an old BIG machine to compliment the little guy.
