I've read your first thread, and although I have transplanted complete gear sets from one case to another, and also replaced a few bad gears, I've hesitated to offer any advice. I just don't know enough yet.

I can only suggest jacking up the rear, removing the hydraulic lift arm assembly and watch while rotating tires. If you have help while operating the hi-lo selector You may see better what is actually happening. If there is no obvious obstruction (popped snap ring, lodged broken casting, etc..) you may have to pull the rear axles and dive a little deeper. It could be a case where someone originally repaired the symptoms incorrectly and now you've inherited the existing problem.

It is very easy to replace a primary shaft backwards...or even gears 180° out. Everything appears to be right but gear teeth do not line up - keep us posted, and fire away with questions (even pictures) as the more we know the better we can help. Good luck.

Sounds like you want to start a new thread in the Yanmar forum. here's how to do it.

Look at the top of this page for the sub-heading: TractorByNet.com > Other Brands/Equipment > Yanmar.
Click on Yanmar. Then click on 'New Thread' in the upper left.

Don't worry about typing skills. One of the originators of the Yanmar forum is a free-speller, any way he likes, and he has probably contributed more wisdom to subsequent Yanmar owners than anyone else I can think of. If we can make out your idea, that's all that matters.

hi lo selector problem figured out...grind out the hole from the inside(upper side only) until the new part islips in...use flexible magnetic pad and vacum cleaner and no shavings will fall into gearbox...sure,laugh,but it beats taking the whole rear end apart...its working fine with no leaks...
