Can I put a Speed Feed on a Craftsman 29cc 4 cycle WeedWacker

The neighbor is partial to a Sears WeedWacker that he's had for couple of years . He's nearly blind and I'm tryin' to help him to change the string head to a Speed Feed. He used my Echo every now and then and is able to reload the Speed Feed. I tried swapping and there's a thread pitch difference. Echo's Speed Feed online interchange just says they're not sure. I'd hate to spend the Guy's money and then not have it fit. Oh, the model of the Craftsman is 316.79170. If they include the proper nut in the Universal Kit then I'd go for it. bjr

I've seen speed feed heads at Home Depot that say they fit most trimmers. You could buy one there and take it back if it doesn't fit.

Call shindaiwa they have speed feed heads that come with adapters for just about everything, I got one for my new RedMax trimmer. They even have a head for bent shaft trimmers. Amazon has good prices. Hope this helps.
