Can I Safely use LED lights for Inside a Shadow Box Picture Frame

I am working on an art project and would like to light up the inside of a shadow box picture frame to produce a glow behind the art. Can you tell me if this possible and if it would be safe in an enclosed frame (appx 8X10 or larger). I will alter the box to allow for the wiring for the on/off switch and outlet plug. Thanks.

LED lights use about one tenth of power for the same light output as incadscent lights. In other words they run much colder. I am just guessing you need difuse light for your project so selection of the light is another issue.

You can use led lights but should install a fuse at the low voltage power source that matches the current draw of the lighting. I have participated in a boating forum where this fusing of led lighting has been discussed at length and the concensus is use fuses.

What wattage LEDs & is the Shadow Box flammable?
Some high output LEDs pump out the heat.

I dont think a shadow box justifies high output led's.

Does it need to run for a long time or just a temp thing? I'm thinking if only temporary then set it up with a battery instead. Low power and heat.

Another option may be a florescent light like you would use under a car. Even light and low heat if it's like the one I have at home.

I would be more concerned about my artwork then the electrical side of it,, You first want to check with someone about the long term affects of the bulb being so close.. I have done allot of work for museums and know that certain types of light will destroy oil on canvas,,

Yes, LEDs are currently not the best thing for artwork...but you mentioned having light behind it. That should be fine. I'll also suggest you take a look at THIS. Might be exactly what you are looking for.
