Welcome aboard. I have a 1985 MF 30E as well. Not to many of them around it seems. Mine calls for Permatran III in the transmission. I am in the middle of a debate with myself whether or not ot change it. 13 gal. 1000 hr on it and oil analysis says it is a little high in copper and lead , the clutch plates I think. Also has some sludge in it.
Friends who are farmers say, light use don't bother, MF says change it , it is cheaper than a transmission. $350 or so.
There are 3rd party transmission oil suppliers whose label says equiv to Permatran III. If it calls for ATF I am not sure the Rotella would work.
I use regular tractor hydraulic oil in the Loader / Hoe system. It blew the main boom hose last year, that was a few gallons.
