Rotary Cutter Can my tractor handle this weight?

I have an LS R4020, w/shuttle shift, that weighs 3800 lbs and my rear tires are ballasted which adds another 600 to 700 lbs, bringing the total to around 4400 to 4500 lbs. My 3PH lift capacity is 2755 lbs. I will be brush hogging without the FEL to aid in maneuverability among the trees.

I'm looking at a very heavy duty 5 ft brush hog for cutting the underbrush in the woods around my home. Several of the heavy duty 'hogs weigh around 1000 lbs. Can my tractor easily and safely handle a brush hog weighing around 1000 lbs?

Should, but your front end might be light if you lift the 'hog for transport.
Only way to find out is try it... Then add front weights as required.

1000 lbs for a 5' cutter...they make it out of 3/4" armor plate?

You should be just fine. But I agree with Roy. I havent seen a 5' cutter THAT heavy.

And with your size of tractor and HP, you should be looking at a 6' cutter anyway.

But 1000lbs should be no problem either way. My tractor is ~1200lbs lighter and has far less 3PH capacity, And I handle my 600lb cutter just fine with no FEL.

But if the terrain is hilly or un-even, the worst case scenerio is you may need to add some front weights.

Heck, Woods makes a BB6000X that weighs 1,330 lbs and Bush Hog makes a Model 325 that weighs 1285 lbs, both are five-footers. I think you could shred an M1 Abrams Battle Tank with either of those, if you could run over it.
