I could be wrong but think the F and FX are the same except for the power shift on the FX.

is the power shift similar to a shuttleshift? i have a ford 555 with a shuttle shift and i'm not impressed with it. anyone know if it puts more were and tear onthe clutch?

power shift is like an automatic transmission in a car .I don't know if it's the same as shuttle shift. You can get power shift on a ym.

Power shifts have fluid clutches as does power shuttles. A fluid clutch takes forever to wear out. They will out last many dry clutches. The difference between a power shift and power shuttle is that with a PShift you can change directions or shift gears without clutching. A PShuttle only changes directions without the clutch. With a standard or regular shuttle you have to use the clutch for everything and it is a dry clutch.

To my understanding, YM's are grey market, FX's are American sold.. May be wrong, but thats the way I understand it.

That is not correct. All are Gray except the old 3 number models. Like ym240. F are from late 80s early 90's. Most have more of a step through floor. I prefer the oldies but I would not hesitate on an f or fx. I don't really know what the x stands for. It may mean powershift? Late 90's 2000's are k or ke like ke200 etc... Not too many of them here but some...
I am not an expert like the dealers on this forum are...

Jerry is correct, I should have explained a little more . On power shift you can change gears & go to reverse without the use of the clutch.I have power shift on my 3110D.
