That when my camera is broken the opportunity for the neatest pictures show up?

Last Saturday as I'm setting up to weld on a tractor on a large construction site I notice a twenty yard end dump going up. I watch as it gets up about seventy to eighty percent and then it starts to lean. I reached for the camera. It's at home no workie. Then the truck driver tries to rock back and forth. I guess to shake the wet clay load loose so it'll dump.

Bad move. The driver's side wheels that are sinking causing the trailer to lean sink further. It leans over ever so slowly until it falls all the way over hard. Breaking the hydraulic cylinder at the fifth wheel, destroying the framework from the fifth wheel to the trailer, and lifting the passenger side of the truck's wheels three feet off the ground.

Great pictures. No camera.

Then this morning I get a call from the customer on the rock gate. A redimix truck had taken out the star rock and bent the overhead.

Again, great pictures, no camera.

Double doggone darn!!!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

With these large dump trucks, is there a way to adjust the box of the truck to keep the hinge points level while the truck axle is on a slope? Seems with the technology today, that sensors could be used along with hydraulic-operated cams at the hinge points to keep the box and its load, level with the ground and balanced.
So often, dumping these huge loads gets a major percentage of the weight very high, and the slightest slope to the ground makes it a very dangerous game. A sticky load like you mentioned makes it even worse.
Wish you had your camera too. Not a fun experience for a truck driver.

Harv, this is where you need to get at the very least a disposable film camera. It's insurance that these sorts of accidents don't happen again thus saving some poor soul a bunch of explaining. However, if that always worked, then how would you explain this: Get a bigger crane! If only that last picture were true it would have made for an interesting conversation on the do's and don'ts of gravity, lift capacity at different moments and the standard, you shoulda..... Rat...

Others cannot explain these phenomena. You will understand when you have achieved total awareness. And, you will find your missing sock.

It's possessed by demons. I have an excorcist on a 24 hour call speed dial if you need one.
Or it could be part of a vast conspiracy against your freedom to take pictures.

I used to be in the same situation, then when I got my new cellphone I got one with a camera. It doesn't take the greatest pictures but better than nothing. Of course it doesn't help when I forget that the phone will take pictures and say "I wish I had my camera!!!". The phone is not as sensitive as one would think. I have beat mine up pretty good and it still works great and takes decent pictures.
Talking of the trailer dump upsetting reminds me of the time one was dumping stone and the ground was soft and he was on a slight incline. As it got to the top the truck came over on the driver's side and the driver open the door and jumped out at the last second. He forgot to close the door and needless to say the door didn't close very well from then on.
