Those type of spiders and rat snakes are the two best (outside) pets to have in the country.

I had a real nice tarantula when I was a teenager that I'd caught down near Little Rock, Arkansas. Fed it grasshoppers and crickets and it lived for a couple of years.

Kept a real nice black widow spider for a year when I was stationed out in California.
