Kubota B7800 with FEL
Can someone please tell me what brand of disk this is? I bought it today. Not purty but after a bit of oiling and greasing it works like a shiny new one. It's a 7 footer. A little bigger than I wanted for my B7800 but the tractor pulls it OK. I played with it a couple of hours today. Just using it to do a couple of one acre food plots. For $100.00 I couldn't pass it up.

that looks like gray paint?
so I would guess with the round tube frame its an early Ford.
take the pictures to a New Holland dealer to see for sure. or go to the ford 8N web site.

What little paint it has left is very faded. It appears to have been green at one time. Not like a John Deere green. More like a Oliver green.

That green you're seeing is mildew.....(Not that far removed from John Deere green afterall!!! ;) )

That is a Massey Ferguson model #25 disc. IMHO, the best 3-point mounted disc ever built.

Yours is/was probably a Ferguson model, as opposed to Massey Ferguson. (Ferguson implements were grey) Note the disc scraper bar is a round pipe on yours as opposed to angle iron on mine. (early vs. later model) A very few of those early models were sold with Massey Ferguson branding shortly after merger and ensuing name change. The #25 stayed in the Massey line-up until the mid 80's. A very good seller.

You can also cut those down quite easily. Mine WAS an 8'-10" model when I found it. I pulled the axles, cut them down 7-1/4", re-threaded the ends, and re-installed with one less blade and spool per gang, making mine into a 7'-6" model.

Thank you FWJ very much. I almost knew when I posted this that you would be the first to know! Never would I have guessed this to be a Massey Ferguson/Ferguson disk. It's built like tank for sure. When I used it for a couple of hours today it just boiled the ground. Thanks also for the information on cutting it down. Although it did make my B7800 grunt a bit I think I'll leave it at 7 foot. I won't be using it that often so as not to worry about wear and tear on the tractor. My first ever ground engaging implement. A lot of fun out of $100.00. Do you think I can find a manual and still find parts? Thanks so much for your help.

If I recall Massey also had a very good wheel disk too. My grandfather who was IH red all the way owned a Massey disk and swore he would never own another brand.

Whistlepig, believe it or not I'm pretty sure I saw one VERY similar to yours for sale on craigslist a couple days ago. Can't remember which city it was in though or I would go back and compare. I just remember the poster saying something about the levers at the front of it, and two large diameter tubes that were the main frame for it. Might have to go back and see if I can find it again.

Manuals are easy to find. EBAY among other places..... Parts manual is same story. Disc blades and spools are generics. You can get them most any place that sells farm equipment/parts. (Agri-Supply sells 'em cheap and ships direct to your door) Bearings (boxings in this case) are a bit harder to come by.

Where you may find that disc to be a real load is when/if you ever try to tackle plowed ground. In un-worked ground, you'll be just fine.

Bill, can you explain why that disc would be harder to pull in plowed ground? Would other harrows have that same issue? Just curious and trying to learn something here.

OK.... In unplowed, previously unworked ground, a disc won't dig in as deep. Generally, you'll be lucky to get 2" or 3" into the ground. The tractor will be running on firm ground. In plowed ground, the disc will probably run as deep as you let it, usually to the spools (axles). The tractor is running in soft, loose soil, which soaks up some of the horsepower. Also, plowed ground will offer less traction due to loose soil. ANY disc will have the same issues in plowed vs unplowed ground.
