I think they are to help keep mud from getting on the operator.

I would venture to say that they are there to deflect the heat of the engine from the operator's legs.

I don't think that's it. They're not big enough or in the right place. With that being said I can't come up with any better ideas.:confused3:

I looked at it again and it may be to keep heat from the exhaust of off the operator.

Kubota Wind Shield.jpg

I thought Artisan was kidding at first but "after further investigation", he is not. I've also wondered about the purpose of item 70 "STAY FOOT COVER LH" also. My B9200 has them as all B9200's probably do. Both items are a bit perplexing to me as to their intended purpose and whether or not they actually achieve that purpose.

Edit: The attached JPG shows the "STAY FOOT COVER LH".

I see, after warming up the bota, that there is quite a bit of hot air coming back off the engine and exhaust pipe. The concept of the piece of acrylic acting as a heat shielf makes more sense to me now. Looks like the hot air could be used as a heater for a heat houser if a cover was made for the side cowl to direct the air back to the operator.
