Buying Advice Canadian vs USA prices

/ Canadian vs USA prices #21
Tractor Prices in Canada are unlikely to drop unless we stop buying for a while. Take a look at the USA farm machinery exports. Canada's imports were almost unchanged from the year before only down 1%. It you look at most other markets the drop is double digits. As with most American manufactured goods Canada is the largest export market for farm equipment.

The top buyers of U.S.-made farm machinery for 2009 were:
(1) Canada - $2.7 billion, down 1%; (2) Australia - $731 million, up 6%; (3) Mexico - $531 million, down 15%; (4) Germany - $350 million, down 35%; (5) France - $340 million, down 14%; (6) United Kingdom - $250 million, down 36%; (7) China - $216 million, up 45%; (8) Belgium - $199 million, down 31%; (9) Brazil - $182 million, down 45%; (10) Netherlands - $138 million, down 37%; (11) South Africa - $134 million, down 14%; (12) Russia - $126 million, down 81%; (13) Japan - $118 million, down 15%; (14) Kazakhstan - $103 million, down 39%; (15) Italy - $97 million, down 12%.

I'm looking for a tractor in the 50 to 70hp range and was wondering if anyone knew a brand that had a Canadian price in the same ballpark as the USA price (before taxes)?

eg the NH website allows you to 'build your own tractor' and gives prices:

YOUR SUMMARY
T4020 UTILITY TRACTOR:- STANDARD MODEL:- ROPS
TOTAL: $44,046.45 CAD
Taxes, freight, setup and delivery not included.

Same tractor and configuration:
CONFIGURED PRICE: $32,627.00 USD
TOTAL: $32,627.00 USD
Taxes, freight, setup and delivery not included.

I understand that Canadian prices are higher but 40% higher? I'm not picking on NH, they just happened to have both prices available (at least they put Canadian prices on their website unlike most others).

Anyway, I was hoping to find a tractor brand where the price difference was smaller. Anyone know of one?

Thanks.

Funny, the $US and $Canada is almost equal now.

Oh well. Buy the tractor in the US and drive it across the border. Maybe with a brush hog on the 3PH mowing the shoulder as you approach and depart the crossing point. Use one of the more rural crossing points.
