Loader Cannot articulate bucket while in Float Mode

/ Cannot articulate bucket while in Float Mode #41
The conclusion.

The dealer changed out the whole FEL hydro valve under warranty. Got the Max home on Saturday, and had some stick time moving wood to test her out. Smooth like buttah... in fact significantly smoother than when I first got it. Bucket now both dumps and curls while the loader is floating!

Tractor was in for a total of a week, this included my 50h service.

Glad you finally got it straightened out. I'm wondering if the "regen" feature might also be working better for you to speed dumping?

Sadly there is no noticeable difference in the speed at which the bucket dumps. And, the elusive "fast dump" feature that's pictured on the valve diagram is also still non-existent.

I some point Jon I'm going to inquire about this at Dubays. I'll wait for the weather to warm up a bit so I can see what other tractors in his yard do in this regard. This aspect drove me nuts this winter to the point that I'm going to build a "snow pusher" so i don't need to dump what is in front of the fel.

Lou,

The fast dump feature is what I call a regen feature. It doesn't increase the speed the bucket dumps under normal no load conditions, but if you have a heavy load in the bucket and dump it fast without going over to the fast dump position you will get a second or so hesitation when you go to roll the bucket back. The heavy load dumps the bucket faster than the pump can fill the back side of the cylinders causing a void, the fast dump send oil over the relief valve to fill the void.

Thanks for the explanation Dave. One would think a bucket full of 400-500 lbs of heavy, wet snow, it would have engaged. Nadda.

I'd be interested in hearing what you find out at Dubay. This has also been a huge time drain for me when moving snow. The few extra seconds it takes to dump every time eventually add up.... I totally understand wanting some kind of push blade for the snow vs pick/dump. Next season I will definitely have another implement of some sort to help speed up the process.

As far as the fast dump position, the diagram appears to indicate that it will pass a detente similar to engaging float for the arms. I cant seem to get my lever to pass that detente. However, I'm a bit gun-shy as it was that same bucket linkage that broke on me last time around... granted there was also an obvious issue with my valve.

Dave, can you confirm that the loader valve on the Max series tractors does in fact have this feature, and they're not just slapping on the diagram from another more "advanced" loader valve?

For now, I'll keep playing the slow-fast-slower game....

I don't think it has a "detent" such as the definite one when going into "float". All the way to the right is supposed to make it dump faster. I haven't seen it yet and i sure don't get Mahindra's claim of a 2.5 second dump time. They must measure it as soon as dirt begins to spill out of the bucket as opposed to lock to lock.

I hear what your saying... it's not out of left field that i was looking for a detent. Figured same thing as float as that's the way it's pictured on the diagram. Part of me really thinks they use the same sticker on a bunch of loader valves, and mine (ours) just doesnt have it.

2.5s to dump is about as exaggerated as it gets. Seems nearly double that.
