I took better pictures, Alucobond is 3/16" thick you can V route and fold the corners this actualy held together by pop rivets. i used 1/4" bolts and 1x1 angle welded to 2-1/2" plate
bolted to the 12mm threaded plates in the rops

Looks good, I like the protection they offer.

Nice, clean looking job.

How much does the canopy vibrate? I thought I'd have to fabricate some forward stanchions to keep anything I'd build developing stress cracks in the brackets. Maybe this approach is light enough to not require the extra bracing.

I haven't had the canopy on long enough for test results
i haven't noticed the vibration, i mounted the canopy to the frame with neoprene washers to reduce vibration and offer some waterproofing It seems quite rigid although it is aluminum. i know if i hit anything it's all over, but the price was right for the materials $6.00 (MM bolts) I had the green paint already from other projects 38.95 a gal So i won't be too despondent it fails It took about 2 hours to fab 1 to install

Thanks, I'll have to try your approach sometime this summer--with a different color paint of course. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif It is too darn hot in the summertime for any long time operating without shade. And that cowboy hat in the avitar pix just doesn't make enough. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I'd still have to put some forward braces on as a branch sweeper. I always run into some low hanging branches in one portion of the yard. We don't want to trim that area any higher. Although, a few passes like I made a few weeks ago does a fair trim job anyway. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Thanks for the idea!
