Aside from those expensive cans of fuel of course.

I can get 87 octane non-ethanol, or 89/92/93 octane with ethanol.

Which is the better choice, considering I don't get to rack up the hours, and the saw will see a lot of storage time?

Actually it looks like a station not terribly far away has 89 or 91 non-ethanol but I won't be going out there very often. So it could go stale by the time I'm done with it. Call that option 3.

I " TRY " to do the non-ethanol , but some times the station has none and I can't call ahead to see if they do , So by the time I drive to that station and find none , I say screw it and buy 93 octane or whatever it is , " Premium " with ethanol is what I get anyway . Have never had any issue's , I don't use additives , but I don't leave any fuel in tank either . Drain tank if sitting longer than a couple of weeks , then I restart whatever it is and run out fuel in carb and lines .

I'd go with option 3.

There is more non-eth out there than most know about. It's worth finding!
