massey ferguson 430
I have a massey ferguson 430 with only 48 hours on it. Used on hunting land for fields about 5 hours a year for 10 years. Shut it off one day and would not start back up. found the fuel shut off rod had come loose and after tightening and replacing fuel filter I can't seem to get it started. I have fuel with no air to the pump and governor bleed off screws but can't get fuel to the injectors. Please help if this is a problem anyone has had in the past.Thanks.:confused2:

have you loosened the injectors and cranked? (be kind to your starter...only 30-60 seconds or so at a crack)

Thanks and yes I sure have. Have bled air from pump and opened lines afterward each time with no luck at all. don't see how pump could be bad after just 50 hours of use but that is the way it acts.

Are you getting pressure to any of the lines between the pump and injectors?

no pressure at all to any of the three injector lines.good pressure at the governor bleed off screws.

I had something very like that happen to me. Took a long time to figure out. Nobody I had look at it could figure it out. I took apart the injection pump and found that one of the metering pinions had a tooth break off and lodge between it and the rack gear that the governor pushes from the front to increase fuel, and the fuel shutoff pushes from the rear to stop the fuel. This jam kept the governor from increasing the amount of fuel. The guy at the fuel injection specialists who talked me through the pump teardown, and sold me the pinion to fix it, had never heard of such a failure.

This was a K3M Mitsubishi engine with a Denso pump.

That sounds reasonable.I may have to remove the pump and have it tested some place. This is a massey ferguson with a perkins engine and lucas cav fuel pump. Looks intimidating to just take off and go in to. Thanks for the replies everyone.
