I have a 22' deckover power tilt. The deckover height means a steep angle to load. The deckover power tilt doesn't have nearly the balance point & axle distance issues gravity tilt ones do. I often scrape tractor impliments loading. Backing up to a hill or what not helps a bit. But it's great not having any fenders to clear for my wide flail mower or loading anything over the side.
I use to have a 16' gravity tilt. Way to short, but the gravity tilt & low deck was nice. I don't regret going talk, but its tradeoffs either way.
Gravity tilts do have the axles centered between the tilting deck. Unless there is a fixed deck up front that means the axles are in the center of the trailer rather than 2/3 or so of the way back you normally get. That essentially means the back several feet of a gravity tilt deck isn't that usable. You can out stuff there, but you need more weight to the front of the trailer than you normally would. Plan on needing a bit longer trailer to compensate than if you had ramps. Or get one with a short fixed deck in front of the tilting deck.
