Anyone have any experience with either a Loftness Timberaxe or Fecon carbide cutter?

Loftness also has a carbide cutter.
I haven't used any of them. I've just been drooling over them for months.

Have you checked out all of the other mulching heads?

Tushogg, FAE, Magnum, etc?

The Tushogg is my absolute favorite.

There's a fella on this thread that rented one.

I was just informed that the carbide cutter I ordered from Loftness was at my dealer on Tuesday. I have scheduled the delivery for Saturday. Hopefully we do not get much snow and I will have a chance to try it out. If I do I will take some pictures.I will be running it on an ASV RC100. I have talked to two guy that run Carbide cutters and the Timberaxe unit they both agreed that the carbide holds up better in our area, We have so many rocks popping out of the soil that no matter how careful you are you will hit them daily. One of the guys uses Loftness the other Fecon and they are both good units. I will get you posted it is one intimidate unit.

Sweet! That's my dream setup. Those ASV machines look to be a LOT better than any of the competition.

Can't wait for your pics!!

If you don't mind me asking, how much will you have invested in the 2 pieces of equipment (loader and cutter)?

Thanks for the info, and I'm looking forward to the pics and the report on how it runs. I am actually looking at the Loftness carbide cutter and not the Timberaxe, but thatnks for the other manufactures--I'll check them out as well.

Hello everyone the carbide cutter has arrived. It was delivered 7:12 am Sat Morning. The wind was terrible and the snow was blowing so I did not do anything but to put it in the barn. On Sunday I took the unit outside just to run it for a couple of Minutes. It is loud just running . I was in a rush on Sunday so it will have to wait until next week. I will say the unit is more impressive in the flesh then in the pictures on Web Site.

I had the Carbide cutter out on Sunday spent approx 3 hours cutting brush and small trees. I had a grove of I would say 100 3 to 4 inch dia trees on the side of a marsh area that I wanted to remove. It took me approx 1 hour to get up to speed on the proper procedures to attack the trees. I will say the loftness unit does a nice job cutting the tree down and then pushing it over to the ground and then mulching it up. the mulching takes the longest to get proficient at, getting the right angle of attack on the cutter head and then back dragging it over the trees. I will say in a very short time they were all down and mulched and I was looking at my next target. I did hit a few stones and the unit just cut grooves into them. I will say this is the best time of year to do this type of work as you can see in most cases what is in front of you, once the leaves start popping it will be alot slower going thru the brush at least for me. I will try and get some pictures next time out.

I use to have the Fecon mulcher. I now run a Mgnum 165-5 (60 inch cutting width). I've been to a demo with 3 ASV RC 100's, all equipt with different mulchers (Fecon, Magnum, and Loftness) and I can say that the Magnum, which I bought on the spot, out cut both the Fecon and the Loftness carbide cutters.
Since then I have also run my RC 100 next to another 100 with a FAE mulcher. The FAE was the closest yet to cutting speed and recovery time of all the mulchers.
I have heard that Gyro-track now has a skid steer mulcher head. I also heard that the Gyro-track head, with the RC 100 is the newest "ultimate package" available.
I am driving to Georgia to see the new gyro-track mulcher next week and will post what I see.
Click this site to see a pic of the exact set up I have.
