Card players

Who is a card player and what is:

1. Favorite game
2. Favorite game for FUN
3. Is it "just a game" with you, or are you keenly competetive?

I like

Hearts, Spades, Euchre, Bridge, Pitch (kinda hometown game I think), Pluck (possibly another "local")

Not that good at Bridge. Self taught. Any "skill" shown comes from simply playing cards for years & general cards smarts.

Not too much into the poker stuff as my $$ is dear to me and most of the time when I have played, it wasn't a "fun" atmosphere. (probably because of involvement of said $$)

Richard, I guess I've played a lot of them over the years, but not much anymore. I barely learned to play Bridge, and it's been so long ago that I wouldn't remember how anymore. Canasta was popular when I was a kid. I learned to play Pitch when I was a kid, and that was the only game my father-in-law played. I played a lot of Hearts in the early '70s. My favorite is Poker, even though I'm not really a gambler (never play for more than I expect to spend for the evening's entertainment), but I've won a lot more than I lost at Poker and Hearts. And while I've played for more, the most fun was playing penny ante with friends and neighbors where the most anyone was going to win or lose was about $10. The last few years we've played a lot of Dominoes (especially 42) with neighbors. But nowadays it's mostly just Racko, Skipbo, Chess, or Backgammon when the grandkids visit./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif It's a big thrill for them to beat the old man at any game./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Richard, love to play poker at family get togethers and hunting trips. Expect to be playing some when I leave for two weeks of pheasant hunting in North Dakota tommorrow. We play all the poker games, dealer decides. Nickel, dime, quarter stuff. Not competitive, but makes the beer taste even better and the conversation livelier<sp>. My personal favorite poker game is called High Chicago.
