My wife and I built this addition on our garage last Spring. She wanted a little picnic area.

drg1, I'm wanting to do the same thing. Our camper is just over 12' tall and I want to make it tall enough that we could eventually put a 5th camper in there should we go that route. Right now we only have slides on the one side, but would like to be able to accomodate both. So w/ our current camper being 36' ft. long, I think I'm looking at something 20x40x16 (14' door). I've already got a 24x24 attached garage and a 30x48 detached, so don't really need more storage area except for the camper itself. I thought about building on to the side of the 30x48 detached, but I don't think I can get enough height and have any slop to the roof as it only has 10' side walls.

The main reason I would want a cover for the camper is to protect the roof from UV rays, leaking, etc. I personally would not go to the expense to make the camper carport wide enough to store the camper with the slideouts out. Thus, you'd only need at most 12 feet wide to protect the camper. But if you have the money and space...

jwstewar, Thats the same situation Im in...I have a existing building 40' long but I have a little over 10' for the sidewalls..Ideally it would be nice to entend off the roof line going up about 3' and then out around 14' for a overhang...Like you dont think I could get enough slope out of it for the snow loads etc...and Im not to sure how structurally it would be putting all the weight on the trusses that are already suppporting the roof...
