I think I might be getting carried away with this tractor fun....

I was using my tractor and FEL this weekend to clean out my barn of this winter's bedding (thick, composting straw and goat droppings). I was feeling good about the progress and the rate at which the cleaning was going. I was able to basically scrape the material out in reverse by angling the bucket all the way down draging it out the big door.

I was pleased with how well it worked and how finely I was able to control the loader (it's my first tractor, now at 40 hours).

When I was done I was admiring the work I had completed and noticed the lights of the barn were on and didn't need to be... when this thought crossed my mind:

I bet I can flip that light switch with the loader and not even have to get off the tractor.

I didn't do this, however, I did ponder it long enough to realize that this site and all the fun of the tractor might have me getting a bit carried away.

Took me awhile, and some re-reading to finally realize the "switch" was for the "lights" in the barn, and not on the tractor. Now it makes more sense, and for the price of the barn light switch, I think you should have at least tried it. I would have. :D

Whoops, I edited it for clarity. :)

the price of the barn light switch

I dunno. Seems like that "price of the barn light switch" could way too easily turn into "price of repairing/replacing the barn wall"

Plus consider the death look from the wife! :D

If one doesn't try, one will always wonder "what if" or "I think I can". Life is like a box of chocolates...or something like that. Live it up, only will pass by here once. ;)

And the "deathlooks" are priceless. :D

Clamp a 30" long, 1/4" dia. dowel rod to the loader bucket. Let us know how you make out with the switch.

LOL!

Half the battle though is figuring out how to get it done while staying in the seat. :)

This reminds me of the things i used to do with the old Case backhoe back in the 1980's....the old 4 joystick versions. We lined about 6 plastic road cones on the ground and had to pick them up one at a time and stack them into a single pile. Was alot of fun and taught me how to feather the controls.

Now personally I'm an electrician and could replace that light switch in a few minutes....but i wouldn't try it with my bucket. I like my walls. Also, if i mess up id also crunch a metal box and conduit piping.

Buy "The Clapper" its cheaper hehe
