does any one have a good way to carry a chainsaw on a tractor. I cut alot of wood and haul it up useing my tractor. I load the wood in a basket and forks on the back and load up the bucket. there just isn't any room to haul the saw and gas when I get it loaded. I want to keep the saw and gas safe from falling off.
I've thought of adding a rack on the ROPS but know you aren't supposed to connect anything to it. any ideas or plans sure would be appreciated.
Just got my new Century 3045 a couple days ago and it really works and runs good. I'll write a review as soon as I get a few more hours on it.

About a year ago here on TBN there was This Thread that showed one way of carrying a chain saw on a tractor.

Regarding not connecting anything to the ROPS, several people have connected carry boxes/etc. to their ROPS using U-bolts. Just don't do any drilling into the ROPS and you should be OK.

Do you have hooks on your bucket? If so bungee or rubber strap the saw and gas. If not set your stuff on the wood and strap from the toothbar(?) to the back of the bucket or loader hinge/frame. Otherwise you may want to add a toolbox or basket. There are pics from others that have done this on this site.

leaddog,
I do a lot of logging and have adapted my ballast box to carry a chainsaw, big shot, peavy, or whatever else I need in the woods. Before filling the box with old weightlifting weights and gravel, I placed two 3 feet long lengths of 4 inch diameter pvc vertically in the after corners of the box. The vertical cylinders are handy for tools or whatever else you want to securely carry. Gas and oil containers are bungee corded to the top of the ballast box or carried into the woods in the FEL and then attached to the ballast box on the way out.

Leaddog.. I have the same problem.. I looked at the metal brackets in the other thread.. I'm wondering if a piece of PVC pipe.. large enough for the blade to go in would work if mounted properly.. just like they do w/ fishing poles. The only other idea I have would be FEL bucket basket that could be secured to the top of the bucket.. leaving the bucket free for wood.. maybe one of the larger milk crates.. and an easy way to secure it. Plus it's plastic.. wouldn't hurt the chainsaw blade.

How about a chainsaw mount. it's like a gun holster for a chainsaw chainsaw mount

NOt sure on the gas can or bar oil don't forget the bar oil.

I assume you may have already seen this thread, but it's what I plan to copy for my use.

The attachment shows what my tractor came with - very handy but no room for all the stuff that needs to go with it. It's what I've heard described in military circles as a field expedient solution.

thanks for all the good suggestions. I still havent made up my mind on what to mount yet as I am still getting used to this great tractor. I've been so busy helping out the relatives with there projects with it I haven't had time to work on mine. They all think it's a great tractor and have just the job for it, Sure has made me popular!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On my JD 970 and on my NH TC45D I have managed to wedge the chain saw behind the seat. It is not a perfect solution as it scratches the paint but it keeps the bucket empty for moving brush and logs. The saw is secure back there and within easy reach.

I looped bailing twine around the handle of my gas can and the bar and chain oil. I drape this over the top link of the 3pt hitch and thus carry fuel and lube for the saw. Usually I find a place on the ground for the gas and oil as it is exposed dangling on the back of the tractor.

I keep my chain saw, logging chains, and pulp hook in my weight box....a little extra weight never hurt. Also keeps the sharp pointy things from sticking into the operator.
