I have recently read a post fro 2010 that about a tractor with a problem similar to mine. My tractor won't pull the solenoid in hard enough to engage the starter until I turn the key to the start position several times. I can put a jumper wire from the battery to the small solenoid wire and it start every time. Curious if anyone has found a root cause to a similar issue. I have replaced the key switch with no change in symptoms.
I have also had a a timer fail I believe. A fuse will blow and the tractor will shut down. Works fine without. Just have to pull the fuel cut off. Bad part is that it won't shut down on loss of oil pressure. Don't want to try a timer at the high price and find it was was either something else or something that causes the timer to fail. I have purchased a small PLC to program my own timer and try to avoid the case one. It will cost me closer to $80 if I can make this work.
