Howdy, pretty new here.
Hi, brand new here, this looks like a great forum. So I have in my possession my bro-in-laws 1963? Case crawler with 4cyl diesel. Trying to get it sold for him as he doesn't have time to deal with it. First a little history on it.
He purchased it over 16 years ago as a rebuilt unit. It has a small dozer blade and he used it lightly for about a year for pushing snow and some road work. Then it lost, or should I say, it won't go into reverse, which I understand is a common problem with these units. So he parked it and it has sat for 15 years. I went and collected it the other day. I had to replace the fuel lines and use fresh diesel and she started right up and it runs great.
Besides the reverse problem, the clutch doesn't seem to work at all. Apparently it worked when it was parked, but now it won't disengage. If I want to move the machine I either have to start it in gear, or just start in neutral and jam it quickly into gear to move it. I tried adjusting the clutch pedal linkages threaded rod a few turns underneath the floor plate, but couldn't get the clevis pin to align with the holes afterword, so I had to return it to it's previous setting.
When I do push the clutch pedal in at idle I notice a change in engine noise like it has or is trying to disengage, but the driveshaft still spins. Any suggestions on whats going on or what I should do?
Also, trying to determine a sale price "as is" for this machine. Other issues include that it's missing the left side hydraulic ram (looks like the blade mount for the ram broke off). It has a Gearmatic WinchDrum 8A on it, but the control for it is also missing (I think, but as I write this I recall seeing a small hydraulic control unit sitting in an old cabin on his property that might be it). Other than that a full service would be in order.
Any idea on a selling price with it in it's current condition?? It starts and runs like a champ and walks forward with ease. Also comes with 6 extra deep lug 14" grousers. The grousers on the tracks are less aggressive.
