Case 444, worth spending a few bucks on it to repair?

Fix it they are built like tanks.I have a 1996 Ingersoll 4020 with a 20 hp.onan motor.

For the contrarian view, since the opinion is that they command a high dollar value, how many dollars is it worth to you?

If you do not need it, sell it to the highest bidder and use the money for something you really do need, or something you want but did not have the discretionary funds to buy.

I think the bottom line is:get it to a shop and get the electrical sorted out.

At that point, I can see if I would use it regularly. Or, if not, I can flip it.

The older, well built GT's (garden tractors) have a big following and command decent money if you decide to sell it. I got started fixing them up several years ago - mostly the Deeres. I like that these things are built old-school - everything is designed to last , and then be repaired/rebuilt/fixed and used for another 20 years. Not like the modern disposable junk we buy today!
Even though we have a cut (Deere 2320), I still keep a GT around for secondary duty. Presently using a Ford LGT165. It's nice to have if the tractor is busy, or to move a trailer, or for cutting around the house. It even gets pressed into field cutting duty from time to time - tractor was down for a few days last summer with a bad hose, was nice to have the GT to stand in when needed. So you may consider keeping it as a backup as long as you have the room...
