Case 485 or Massey 461 - Which one should I choose?

Hello everyone, I am curious to hear your thoughts and experiences on the following:

Im considering buying a MF 461 2wd for around $8k with under 1000hrs. If I purchase this, Ill have to add a loader.... Found a well used 836 loader separately that Ill have to attach (not sure if I can).

or

I am also considering a case 485 2wd w/ loader and about 3000hrs for around $9k.

Ill be using the tractor for log skidding, bushhogging, haying, running a small drill and other various things on 100ac. I understand the hp difference, but it appears to me that either one of these tractors will be suitable for what I am trying to do. Id really like a 4wd, but all that I can find are out of my price range.

So I have 2 questions....

First one is: Does anyone know if I can mount the 831 loader on the 461 tractor without any modification?
Second one is: Which tractor do you think is best and why?

Hi. Welcome.

You will get plenty of advice on spending your money here.
If it were me I would favor the Case 485 since the FEL is already installed. 3000hrs is not that much.

I'd take the 485. Much nicer tractor and way better on a loader than a 8x2 MF.

Built in UK versus who knows where for the MF (Brazil?)

I think that Massey was made in Turkey.

Based on previous experience and my gut feelings, I am leaning towards the case, if it is still available. Thank you all for your thoughts.

I have a case 485, owned it for about 23 years. Great tractor. No major problems, had the injection pump rebuilt about 8 years ago & replaced the front ball joints. No loader.
