Hello all!
I acquired this old 580CK in a great deal but it needed some significant work. After a number of years taking up space in my shop, Covid has allowed me time to get some much needed work done. I am so very close to starting it for the first time! It was not running when I got it.
While putting things back together I have had to use the shop manual to figure a lot out, since it was partially disassembled when I got it. It was also painted at least once with a lot of paint on parts.
Best I can tell I have all the wiring back where it belongs. However the intake heater does not seem to be coming on. I plan to trace the wiring as the solenoid still functions.
Here's the question; by looking at the manual it appears that the wire for the intake heater is hot when the ignition is in the "on" position. This would mean that the heater is on all the time. This doesn't seem right to me.
Is there anyone with enough knowledge of this unit to speak to how this "should" be set up? I was considering just putting a switch inline to control the heater for use when needed.
