Case CX90 clutch

Hi all,
I have changed the clutch on my cx90 a few times over the years. The last two times the clutch wasn't badly worn at all. It's currently not great at all and hard to get into gear. Here is what's happening. With the clutch fully pressed and shuttle in forward or reverse, when I try to select a gear the tractor starts to slightly move while pushing the gear stick, let it back to neutral and it stops trying to move. I'm planning on splitting it again to change the clutch but what else should I be looking for if the clutch plate isn't badly worn? Shaft on the release bearing bent? Bushings worn? Any suggestions?

Did you replace only the clutch disc, or as a kit with the pressure plate..?? If complete kit, sounds like the clutch disc got hot & warped and is dragging. If it works OK after putting a new one in at least for a while, that would be my guess. Parts manual shows a button type clutch, and that seems like a lot of times to replace one of those in 25-26 years, if bought the first year out. Their built pretty tough to take the rigors of a loader tractor. (assuming yours has a loader)

That many replacements I'd imagine the flywheel has a lot of heat cracks and may need taken to a machine shop and trued up. Might want to check the pilot bushing bearing for wear too.

Start with the easy stuff. Check the adjustment on the clutch. You may have too much free play.

Check the free play on the clutch pedal first. Should have about 1" of free play. If not, adjust it accordingly.
