Trying to pick a hydraulic motor for my skid steer brush cutter build. Trying to find one to handle my loaders gpm and psi is slim. But it seems most I see in surplus center list a case drain size. I just have standard flow with no case drain. Do you have to use the case drain? I’d like to use one of the char-Lynn motors but they list it. They have an Extreme Hydraulics brand that says no case drain. Has anyone used that brand?

You will have to find out what pressure the shaft seals are rated for on the motors you are looking at. Then you will have to find out what the return flow pressure is on your skid loader. As long as return pressure is lower than shaft seal rating you should be good.

my suspicion is that the return pressure will be 200 - 300 PSI possibly higher with cold oil.
