Case IH 255 differential problems

We just purchase a Case IH 255 3cyl. diesel engine tractor. The diffential is engaged but will not disengag. Just replaced the spring which was given to us by former owner to "fix" the problem but this did not help. Any suggestions greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Some times you just need to rock them back and forth and they will release. I'd say you might have more trouble inside from a hit on the run so to speak.

My differential on my IH 245 will occasionally lock but not disengage. I was able to correct the problem by liberally spraying the linkage with a lubricant. I hope the solution to your problem is this simple.

Spray the linkage with some lubricant, let it set for awhile, then drive it in circles both ways, if it's not an internal problem it should pop free.
