The brake master cylinders have been leaking for a while. I plan to rebuild or replace them this winter. Does a rebuild kit require any special tools or present any real challenges? New cylinders are reasonable enough, but some parts these days are questionable. I'm looking for feedback on the best method. Thanks for your advice.

If you think some parts these days are questionable you should probably be wondering about the source of the complete unit as well. I would personally buy the complete master cylinder as you know all the parts will be the correct size and you should have a working unit. If not you can return it. Buying the parts may be a crapshoot. On the other hand I did rebuild a master cylinder - once. It was very straightforward. It was also the front brake for a Harley so I don't know if that counts. Just my two cents.
