I have a 395 that has been working fine until a few weeks ago. After doing some plowing I pulled out onto the road to go back to the barn. I took off in low range, third gear and once I got rolling good shifted to high range. As soon as I let off the clutch the tractor took off like it should but within a second or two acted like it had jumped out of gear. No forward in any gear. Reverse works fine. This does have forward/reverse so 8 forward/reverse gears. Every once in a while if you put it in gear and let off the clutch it will try to move forward but then stop. Once I have heard a high pitched noise from the transmission but it did not stay.
I am thinking that possibly the forward clutches in the shuttle clutch have given up but this happened all at once with no warning. I see on the parts diagrams the clutch pack has O'Rings...is it possible one of these is bad? I know from my luck it will not be this easy or inexpensive. I have removed the transmission cover but can't see anything that looks bad. The plunger in the IPTO seems to slide up and down real easy but that may be ok.
Any suggestions or ideas? I plan on stopping at a dealership tomorrow to see if they can give me any ideas. And if it is the shuttle clutch do I have to split the front and back or will it come out the front?
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.
