I bought a Case IH Maxxum 5130 a few years ago. It had rotting fenders, and none of the lights worked, but was otherwise in good condition. I had it all fixed up, repainted, and had the lights all reconnected... We put a few hundred hours on it with little to no trouble except for the standard electronic issues.
Every now and then the clutch disengage light comes on and the tractor stops for a while. Other times the shuttle misbehaves and will either not let me put the tractor into reverse, or only let it go into reverse until the clutch is almost completely disengaged, at which time the tractor jolts backwards violently (only when its really hot).
I have been told to replace the 4 electronic modules / selenoids under the cab (in behind the remotes). I have also been told to replace the modules / selenoids for each powershift range, or at least the first two. Too many other Maxxum owners have told me to do the same thing so I'm pretty sure that this is the way to go. Is anybody aware of third party makers of these modules? The modules under the cab are like $400+ Canadian from Case IH. I cannot imagine that those modules / selenoids were only made for that tractor and are only available through Case IH - of course I have been wrong many many times in life
