How come the case tractors dont get much attention on these boards? The DX series seems as nice as any i have looked at. What is your take on why they are not as popular?

The Case Farmall DX tractors are essentially red clones of the New Holland TZ and TC tractors, same company, same specs.

I have a Case dealer in town, he also sells Kubota & Cub Cadet. Intersting thing is that he doesn't stock (or near as I can tell sell) and of the DX Farmalls. He sells Cub LTs & GTs, Kubota Sub-CUTS & CUTS and then he sells Case Ag tractors. I guess it is just his way. There is a New Holland dealer only a few miles away who sells NH CUTS and Ag equipment. I think it might be a friendly way of dividing the market where they each minimally step on each other's toes?

On a national level, I think there are a lot more NH dealers than Case dealers, so that might explain why the Case/Farmall gets less attention on the boards?

There are more Case-IH dealers in the US then NH by a wide margin.

Robert, not in my area, but I really don't know so I'll take your word for it.

But let me ask if those Case dealers are constuction equipment dealers or if they are CUT/Ag tractor dealers? We have several Case dealers in my area that sell construction equipment, but only 1 that sells Ag equipment.

Like I said, I don't really know. Just guessing here.

I don't know if I would say that around here. Some years ago Case when it purchased International it dropped a whole bunch of dealers. In fact some of the dealers in the area got together and formed one partnership so they could continue to purchase the Case tractor. All purchases to Case went through one dealer for all of the dealers in the area. The tractors had to shipped to the one dealer and then re-shipped to the dealer that actually sold the tractor. The point dealer just had a percentage taken out for the paperwork etc. They had to do this just to stay in business. And some dealers moved on to other products. In our area I see must as many New Holland as I do Case.

/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gifMy take is there are as many or more CaseIH dealers as NH but atleast farmall line and DX18E , & 24 were new last year and updated to 18 , 22 , and 25 this year but as they are breaking into established markets they are doing well. I got first Farmall my dealer recieved , they sold about 8 last year , got mine early May , slow to recieve many all summer as all new design. NH dealer here pushes Kubota hard, just recieved his first TZ24 2 months ago , hasnt sold it yet. CaseIH dealer has seven in stock now. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

There are still more Case-IH dealers in the US then NH. Case-IH dealers sell ag equipment. This is one of the main reasons you see a lot more red ag tractors then blue. In large row crop areas you will usually see Case-IH dealers out number NH 2-1 but they are spread out over a large distance. In the WNY area I know of 4 NH stores and over 10 Case-IH.

I do not know if it is true or not but during the merger I thought someone told me that Case-IH dealers could not sell DX series compacts if they are within so many miles of a NH dealer. Of course things might have changed by now or the dealer who was responsible for this post just decided to keep the other brands that are well known for compact tractors instead of trying to push a new brand even though we all know the DX's history. We still see people post on here wondering if the DX and TC are made by the same company so imagine how hard it would be to sell the DX to the public when everyone knows who Kubota is or how do you tell someone to buy the red version of the NH TC? In that case you have to beat them by price and service but you can't sell them on the DX being better then the TC like you can try with a Kubota.

I do wish there were more NH dealers and maybe some day things will even out some but in the US, people who farmed grew up with Red and Green tractors and blue was well behind those two. Now over in Europe it is a different story and you will find a lot of NH dealers and Ford/NH has a strong history with farmers over there much like Case-IH and John Deere has here.

I do wonder if anyone has the number of dealers and stores in general (as some dealers own multiple stores) for each brand. I will ask one of the muckity mucks in the Case-IH office and see what she knows and can tell me about the number of dealers as now I am curious. Take care.

I don't think Case dealers push the DX as much as the New Holland dealers push the TC. Seems like the Case dealers in my area of North Texas push their larger ag tractors over the "cuts". Know of only two dealers who really stock DXs and they are in Terrell and Waxahachie. The rest (approximately four ag dealers north, northwest and southwest of Dallas) have few DXs, if any, on their lots.

From my understanding the TC has been around a lot longer than the DX. In fact when I was purchasing my first TC, Case did not have one available to even look at. I think and I could be wrong but I never saw a DX until about three years ago. Then there is always the "Well who is ever going to buy one of them small tractors", and it just took the dealers a while to get into selling them. New Holland had many more years of experience in moving these machines as Case was a larger family of tractors serving a totally different market.

But this is just a theory of mine.

You are right about Case not having the DX until about three years ago. Don't know why it takes Case so long to get the same models as New Holland. For instance, Case is just now getting the JXC which is the TN equivalent. In fact I had one Case almost call me a liar when I asked about the JXC. He had never heard of it and flatly said that the JX was the same as the TN. Needless to say I wouldn't buy anything from that dealer.
