I went to the backhoe rodeo at my local Case dealer, it was pretty cool. A lot of nice machines! Here is the link to the photos: Case Rodeo - a photoset on Flickr

I didn't feel like resizing them all so I just put them on flickr. When you click on the picture, at the top right above the pic. will be various little tools/links, click on the magnifying glass icon with the 'plus' in the middle and you can see them in their original size.

Nice pics. Back hoe rodeos sure are fun, the few I've been to had JD, Case, and Cat. The dealers would let any experienced operater run any new machine and get a hands on comparrison. Boy there is something very satisfying about getting into a brand new cab and seeing how good you really are as an operator.

For those that don't know, this is a contest of skill. Some of the exercises consist of picking up various items and accurately placing them into containers, or moving the bucket through a series of cones, stuff like that. Fun. The winning score comes from how well an operater does against the clock.

Thanks. I would like to go to a John Deere event too but I'm not sure if they do that. Never seen it advertised. I'm going to go double check on their website. It was very fun seeing the new machines, especially the black backhoe!

The backhoe rodeos I've been to were all at construction trade shows where he 'big 3' dealers all brought their own brand. The neat part was there they all were side by side, Cat, Case, and JD with an open invitation to run each of them. Trade shows are fun anyways, but finding one that has a backhoe rodeo is special. Of course there would always be one Ace operator there who ran a machine like it was grafted to his body and skunked everyone else with his speed and skill. I personally never even thought about winning at these events, just had fun and tried to do the different tasks without breaking anything!

Huh, well that's cool. Yeah there were some very good operators there yesterday, and one BAD one. It's a good way to find that operator you need for your business that's for sure!

I really like that 50th anniversary edition. The images on the cab are really nice. I thought it was a reflection at first. I don't think I could ever use that machine for any work, but it's fun to look at.

That rodeo will be in my town in September. Unfortunately it is during the week. Maybe I can get away from work for a little while and at least see part of it.

Yeah if you can try and stop by for a few minutes. It's nice to look around at the machines and watch them work.
