My apologies in advance if this is the wrong section, tractor data says it the same as the NH TC24DA ... Is it? Are there still parts available? Is there any relationship to the LS tractors?

I'm looking for another little tractor, don't need or want a loader or mower ...

I see this CaseIH Farmall DX24 listed on tractor house -

It looks like it has a finish mower on the back, but listing doesn't say either way ...

They are asking $6K, it has 480 hours on it, and seems to be in good condition ... Does it sound like it's worth driving 600 miles round trip to look at it?

I'm just having a tough time finding a older no mmm and loader tractor, prefer HST ... If mower does go with it, I probably could sell it after I retire in 2 years ... Or hopefully better yet, get them to knock off the price a bit, appears to be a JD dealer ...

Definitely worth looking at. I have the Farmall 40 that i got use and it has been a really nice machine. Made by Shibaura, parts are readily available. I get mine from either our local NH dealer or from Messics online. I believe this is a pre LS tractor and is the same as the NH TC. The price is subject to what you are willing to pay.

Tractor data says it's made by CaseIH but has a Shibaura engine ... Is that what Case/NH/LS is currently using for engines?

Are they good engines?

I see a bunch of the Old Ford 1700 series in my area, but my understanding was that they no longer have any parts support ... So don't want to go too old, or an obsolete tractor.

That tractor was made by Shibaura, as was the New Holland Boomer's of that era. Shibaura also made the old Ford compacts.
The new Farmall's and NH compacts are made by LS.
Personally I really like those old Shibaura built Farmall's and Boomers. I wanted to buy one back in the day, but I had no good dealers anywhere around me. Basically couldn't even find one in an 8 hour radius that even seemed interested in selling me one.

Here are a few of the "Old Fords" ... Some of them have quite impressive number of hours! But I've read that it's hard to get parts from a dealer for them, and mostly have to rely on junkyards ... Is that true?

Primary purpose of this tractor will be running a 48" tiller, then a 60" land plane, so want a narrow tractor ...

I would go for it if it looks the same in person, the Shibaura tractors are almost bulletproof. It is the basically the same as the NH TC equivalent, just in red paint. Parts are available for the most part. Some complete assemblies are no longer available, but the individual parts for them are available.
