the ad says nothing about UC, but from the pictuer all glass is still in and machine does not look bad. Just curious what other people think about

I'm not familiar with the 110b Michelle so maybe someone else with a little more knowlege about that machine will chime in. I have a 2004 246b. Paid $14,500 for it about six months ago. Had 1,901 hours on it at time of purchase. Also, mine is open cab...

If it's the one in the Want Ad Digest be wary. There is no way the machine only has 3200 hours. It is 20 years old. I asked the seller for more pictures and received no reply. If you look in the picture the track on the back of the picture is really loose, whereas the track in the forefront is nice and tight. Also the machine has been listed for over 3 months.

Didn't you already have an excavator?

The price seems cheap enough to cause some concern. Kind of like they are in a hurry to unload it, or they know there's a big issue with it and they don't want to deal with it.

A new undercairrage can easily go for $5,000, but it's easy to do and when it's done, you don't have to deal with it again. If that's all thats wrong with it, then it's priced about right. Since they are not saying anything about the undercairage, you'll have to do your own inspection. Do you know what to look for? The sprocket is the fist thing most people check or point out, but it's the cheapest and easies part to replace. The real money is in the pins and bushings. These have to be pressed on one at a time and they have to be off of the machine to do so.

On an excavator, besides the normal engine and hydraulic pump issues that you get with any machine, you also have to worry about the turntable. Are the bearings good, does the motor have enouph power or will it last? This can get real expensive, especialy on an older machine with allot of hours.

I have my doubts about those hours on a twenty year old machine. If you decide to buy it, make sure you get the hours in writen down on the sales receipt and they sign it. If you need to sue them for lying to you about the machine, that would be important to have. Everything else they can deny, but saying it only has 3,200 hours would be pretty easy to disprove based on the amount of wear on it.

Good luck,
Eddie
