Hello everyone, I have been reading this site for about 6 months and just now signed up. There has been some great information I have learned here, I only hope to be able to give back as much as I have learned.

Anyways, here is my problem. I have a CAT D3B (first ever Dozer) and have owned it for about 1.5 years. I have changed all the filters and fluids but am having a problem with the right clutch. When I press the clutch in to have the dozer turn right, everything works fine but the pedal sticks. I have to sometimes use my foot to un-stick it. If I didn't I would turn in circles. The left one works fine.

Has anyone ever heard of this and what might be the fix.

Thanks,

Start with the needle bearings at the pivots on the upper end of the pedals and the needle bearings on the rockshaft where the bellcranks are below the pedals. You may get relief by spraying WD40/PB Blaster/CRC into the cracks between the pedal pivots and between the bellcranks, but I had to disassemble mine to fully free them up. They get full of hardened grease and crud over the years that the relatively weak return springs (under the seat on top of the bevel gear housing) can't overcome.

I've got a D3 and the way my pedals pivot makes me think working the your pedal back and forth with a shot of oil will free it up.

I run my D3 every couple of weeks because a mechanic told me the steering clutches can bind and refuse to release... doesn't sound like you have that problem.

Guys thanks for the information. I will try your solutions this weekend. I am glad to hear that it sounds like a pedal problem and not a more seriously issue.

Ultrarunner and Farmford

I tried what you said and it worked great. I tought I would have a more serious problem, but ran it today for about 4 hours with no problems. Thanks again.

Another quick question, I was talking with my neighbor and he has a D6 (70's model). He said there is a grease fitting on the front axle. I have a manual but it does not have a lubrication diagram. I have look all over the machine and the only grease fittings I see are on the front for the blade. Do you know of any grease fittings (other than the track tensioner) on the or around the undercarriage or do you have a lubrication diagram?

Thanks,
