I've been reading some threads in TBN about people disengaging there PTO's before disengaging the PTO clutch. I wouldn't think that this is a good practise.Eventually there could be potential for breaking off a tooth,or chipping off the ends of the gear's.If its done to often maybe the gears will want to start jumping out on there own.The gears are straight cut gears so its possible to ruin them as well as other things due to anything breaking off and getting into places where they should'nt. In the tractor manuals it does say to disengage the clutch before taking PTO out of gear. Just a friendly warning?? that things can happen doing it the other way around and can be costly.
