Depending on how you control it, you usually have enough fluid to operate two functions at a time. Because, you are not usually opening the valves all the way.
As said, it's not an excavator. But, it is probably capable of digging faster than the average owner can control it. If you are experienced enough to dig at full throttle, it can move along pretty fast.
You do have to use any compact digger differently than commercial construction equipment. Aside from the limited amount of fluid flow, they simply don't have the weight to resist the movement of the machine when you are digging hard ground, or lots of roots. That means, sometimes you have to use a different technique, which involves breaking the ground by using more curling of the bucket, rather than just ripping, by pulling the bucket through the ground.
With a competent operator, these machines are capable, and smooth operating. And, more than adequate to do what they are designed for.
Considering that they cost a fraction of the cost of commercial equipment, I am quite pleased with mine.
