Can anybody tell me what the differences are, if any, between the CC 1042 -- which is what the local tractor dealer carries, and the CC 13BX11CG712, which is what Lowe's carries. Both are $1599. Also, am I gonna regret the fact that CC uses one guage lighter steel for deck and chassis than Craftsman? Any comments appreciated! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Both machines are the same...but you obviously would be wise to purchase from the dealer and not Lowes (much better service). Also I don't think the one guage will make any difference at all, nothing to lose sleep over.

I would not sweat the deck/frame gauge at all. Any ~$1500 LT will serve the same purpose for about the lifespan. IMO- the CC 1000 series is a step ahead of a sears LT with the foot pedal hydro drive, better deck suspention, easier deck removal and better steering hardware. The sears and CC 1000's both use hydro-gear transaxles.

G/luck

Thanks, Joel. I had pretty much come to the same conclusions about the things you point out. i don't know if Sears LT's still have the problem, but i remember that ALL of them used to get REAL loose (lot of play) steering. Pus the CC has an hour meter! Cool. Also has wider rear tires (good for drag racing.......) And i think it has true hydrostatic (as you say, better pedal stuff,) and think Sears mowers do not........

Gamble, that's what i was thinking..... about getting from the dealer. But he sure wasn't knowledgable when i called.... had to check to see if in stock...... oh, has 3 of them. And can't deliver, so I'll havta rent a truck. (Lowe's will deliver for $59.) I could try, but i don't think the CC will fit in my Z06 ... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif or my fiance's S-type (hey, I did get a generator and a pressure washer in the S-type... both will fit at the same time!! But let me ask you this..... Will dealer give me a better price during the winter? (I'm in Florida, the 1042 is really a mower only..... mowing season has essentially ended for q while.... thinking they might want to improve their cash flow in Feb or March. Can i buy one from you at a better price (including shipping?) Thanks for your thoughts. David

To be blunt no you can't purchase one from me cheaper including shipping, there is not enough mark up on those machines to cover freight. As far as buying cheaper in the "off season" it depends on dealers. Remember that since there isn't much mark-up to begin with many dealers aren't willing to budge from that price. We might knock of $25-50 during the slower months but thats it...and thats probably all you can hope to find.

I do find it very interesting though that your local dealer doesn't offer shipping? You might want to call up there and ask for the either the owner or the sales manager...I can't imagine a dealership not offering shipping.
