Hi all,
I have a 1872 with the 18 hp Kohler magnum engine in it and 60 in mower deck. It has approx. 950 hrs on it. All summer it started well, but recently it's been a bear to start, once running it's fine. It appears that it's trying to turn the mower deck blades when it's starting. It's more of a drag and not that they are engaged like when you flip the switch to kick them on. This little bit of a drag hurts the ability for the engine to spin fast enough to kick. I suspect a belt is to tight and a little elbow grease will fix this issue once I get a chance to look into it. It does leak a little oil up in front and will smoke a touch on start up but cleans up nicely and the plugs look good.
I'm the second owner from new and it has always been stored inside since new. Still has it's original decals and seat with no tears or heavy fading. Power steering works well, rubber is fair, mows both directions, tough, sturdy unit!
Because it's been hard to start I've used this as an excuse to buy a new Kubota B2620 with deck, FIL and BH! So, I'm looking at selling the Cub or using it as a secondary mower if I can't get a fair price out of her.
I'm located in Jackson, Michigan.
If your interested give me a call and we can discuss a fair price.
