I have an 05 cc 2042. After the wet snow we received up here in New Hampshire this past Friday, I am already considering adding a plow to my list of tractor attachements.
General question = will the 2042 do an OK job with a snow plow?
What should I expect to pay for this attachment?
Do the 2042 optional weight do a decent job?
Will the 2042 take tire chains ( fender clearance)?

Reason: My Troy-Built snow blower wouldn't take the slushy snow = repeated clog in chute - put it away and the kid's and I got out the shovels for about 4 hours.

I don't own a CC. I have a Toro Wheel Horse 520XI garden tractor with a 48" front blade. My 520XI has a 20hp gas kohler engine, steel drive shaft and a cast iron rear end. I see the specs on the CC 2042 has the same drive shaft and rear end. I can push/remove a lot of snow from my 20'x80' gravel driveway. I live in NE ohio and we receive a lot of lake effect snow. I don't use my rear turf tires with chains any more. I bought ag tires with rims from my dealer. My chains from my turf tires fit on the ag tires. I use 50lb. wheel weights on each rear wheel as well. The CC website shows that the 2042 can use the front blade attachment. Personnally, I don't think you'll have any problems pushing/removing snow. You still might want to check with your dealer on your question though. I hope this info is helpful for you.

John, which model Troy-Bilt do you have? I have the 6 horse, 21" model from about 6 years ago, before Troy-Bilt went belly-up and was bought by MTD. Mine has the 3 speed gear transmission, which originally came from when the line was made by Bolens in Port Washington, WI. The Bolens design blowers were built like tanks. I will say, though, that if it hits REALLY wet stuff, it will plug.

Nowadays the Troy-Bilt blowers are just tarted up MTD units, along with the Troy-Bilt tractors. I'm hoping to the heavens that MTD doesn't *****-out the tiller line and make it just another cheap junk name 'brand'. I've got a little Troy-Bilt Tuffy that put in a 1/4 acre yard, did countless landscaping projects, and also the yearly garden tilling. GREAT tillers.

Chris,
My troy Bilt is old. I got it from one of my relatives about 5 years ago and used it as a standy. It's 8hp, 24" throat. The model numbers are eaither worn off or painted over by my Father-In-Law.
My primary snow blower is a White, 8hp, 24 inch and it always worked well until this year. I have it almost completely apart and it looks like the drive gears in the auger transmission are completely destroyed. I will likely take the motor off and send the White to the landfill.

Perhaps I will try to sell the old Troy Bilt and put the small amount of money I get toward a CC blower and/or a plow.

my concern with the plow is that up here in New Hampshire, it's not un-common to get at least a couple of big snow storms every winter = those 2 ++ footers. I have a very long driveway and a plow on a tracotr of the 2042 size would be a challenge. A mix of a blower and a plow would be better = even though it would mean changing attachements.

Thanks for your reply.
